Workout recap so far... My legs are tired...
Tuesday:
70 minute swim with some "fun" 16x25. 1-4 were fly, 5-8 back, 9-12 breast and 13-16 free. I about drowned on the flys trying to go fast as instructed. I swallowed a bunch of water and had to stop in the middle of the 3rd one! The rest was good.
My run at lunch was hard. Legs heavy and HR depressed. 40 minutes, 5 miles.
I went to PIR and raced the 3/4 race. Guinness teammates Jay and new guy David, whom I both happen to work with raced with me. It was David's first raced and he had fun while Jay just sprang off the front whenever he could to try and tire the group out so I could win. He did his best, but RiverCity wasn't having any of it and chase almost everything. With three laps to go (1.9mile loop) Jay got away and we made eye contact and I should have jumped to get his wheel. I didn't have it. If I would have gone, I would have pulled everyone up to him. No pop in the legs today after the TT Champs two days ago. He stayed away until turn 9...so close. It was fun and we got drunk at Amnesia afterwards!
Wednesday:
Another heavy leg, depressed HR run. 50mins, ~6 miles along the waterfront. Moved 90 min ride to Thursday and lifting I skipped...
Thursday:
Meet Jay, Patrick (http://pennyforathought.org/) and David for an early Skyline, Zoo, West Hills ride and coffee. Legs are still heavy on the hills, but good speed and comfortable on the flats. 90mins.
So here's the video of me starting the OBRA TT Champs on Sunday...
And the finish...

August 6th, 2007 - Back in the Saddle
Today is the first day of my build to Clearwater. The 70.3 Championships is November 10th. So, what's new with me?
- Detox diet leading up to Paleo Diet (for athletes) was a bust, so I am back trying the Paleo thing now and just using the Clearvite Detox stuff as a multivitamin...
- 2nd place at the Oregon State 40k TT Championships in Cat 4/5. Thanks Grant for your disc wheel and Jay for the TT helmet
- Sold one cross bike and looking to sell the other and get a new one. Still haven't decided on the new Felt or Salsa. I'm down to only 4 bikes now... the fix, TT, road and cx, I gave the vintage 1997 RockHopper to my little brother.
- The last two weeks have been easy, just getting into the swing of things, a routine. This week starts off with 17 hours and lots of swimming!
- Body Fat testing...I'm a FAT triathlete @ 11% (158lbs of Fat Free Mass and 20lbs of Fat). I intend to get this to 9% by raising my FFM to 160 and losing the rest in fat. Combination of diet and weights. I know that I lose power below 175lbs, so I'm not going to get below that. However, with weights, diet and training for a half, I may get below...we'll see if my power decreases. I suspect I can under and be okay, but it will be close. I'll need the power for Cyclocross...
Swimming today is a bunch of 50s followed by an easy 60 minute ride. It will be good to flush things out after yesterdays TT. I'll have a better report tomorrow or so after I get the photos and video. Hopefully I can figure out how to embed a youtube video...
